PRIOR TO STARTING: close this window
Prior to setting up USA Liberty on your computer, it is strongly
recommended that you remove your previous ISP's software.
Old software often causes conflicts, and is responsible
for nearly all initial dialup errors.
To remove your old software…simply click on your 'Start'
button on your desktop, then click on 'Settings', then 'Control Panel',
then 'Add/Remove Programs'. Select your old ISP's software from the pull-down
menu and then click on 'Add/Remove'.
TO START THE SETUP PROCESS:
1) VERY
IMPORTANT! Click on the appropriate link highlighted
in blue (QW, UU, TE, or ST- you would have gotten the code during the
account setup process.) This is the setup wizard which will configure
your dialup properties and your email program automatically. Please note
that the setup wizard is only for PC machines. Macintosh users please stop here
and go to our technical support page which will assist you in
setting up your MAC.
2) Download the setup wizard and save it on your computer somewhere where you'll remember to find it.
3) When you're ready to start the setup wizard, close all other
programs, find the setup wizard and open it.
4) You will be greeted with a brief welcome
message. Click OK.
5) Enter in your user information when prompted:
Name: (enter your full name)
Username: (enter your user name)
Password: (enter your password)
***Please note that usernames and passwords should be typed in lower case.
Email: (this field is populated automatically and requires no change)
VERY IMPORTANT! You will notice additional
characters in this field,
this is for added encryption and should not be changed. Your email address
to give to friends and colleagues is 'yourusername@usaliberty.net'.
Dialing an outside line: If you must dial a number to reach
an outside line (e.g. you must dial '9' to get a dial tone), you may select
this option to automatically dial for an outside line prior to dialing your
access number.
Dialup number: Click on the Select button and choose the local access number of your choice.
Ten-digit dialing: By default, this is deselected; However,
if you need to dial the area code plus phone number for telephone
calls, please select this option.
6) It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you overwrite existing dialup settings. Leaving
an old dialup account on your PC will
often cause conflicts which will prevent you from successfully logging on to
the Internet. This is almost always the case when
your prior Internet Service Provider (ISP) used bundled
software (e.g. browser software plus email client as in the case of AOL,
Earthlink, MSN and other ISPs).
7) Click OK.
8) Wait about 10 seconds to see if the configurator successfully set up your
new account. A message will appear that you are
'free to surf the net'.
9) Restart your computer before attempting to connect to ensure the new settings
are recognized.
Once you restart your computer:
10) From your desktop, double-click on the USA Liberty dialup icon.
11) Then click on 'dial'. You should now be able to connect to the Internet
using USA Liberty!
IMPORTANT NOTES and ADDITIONAL REFERENCE INFORMATION
YOUR CONNECTING TO THE USA Liberty NETWORK indicates your acceptance
of the Acceptable Use and Billing/Cancellation
policies. Please refer to the links below if you have not yet reviewed these
important notes. If you cancel your
service within 3 business days of
initialization of service for any reason, USA Liberty will retain a cancellation
charge of $10 for dialup services and $25 for ISDN services.

USA Liberty ENFORCES A STRICT ANTI-SPAM POLICY
To protect the network performance of our users, the use of your account to
send out any bulk and/or unsolicited e-mail,
commercial or otherwise (spamming), is strictly prohibited. Bulk e-mail (spamming)
is defined as identical or similar e-mail
messages sent to 25 or more recipients where such e-mail has not been specifically
requested by the recipient. Any violation
of this policy may result in the immediate termination of your account, at the
sole discretion of the Company. If you violate this
spamming policy, you will be assessed the following fines and penalties, which
you hereby agree to pay:
First offense: $100.00
Second offense: $500.00
Third offense: $500.00 and automatic termination of your account.
USERNAME and PASSWORD
You will notice that in dialup networking the user name you entered and the
password look a little different. Do not be tempted
to change this information! USA Liberty uses encryption technology to mask true
usernames and passwords for enhanced security,
so additional characters appear before and after your username and password.
EMAIL
Your new email address is your username @ usaliberty.net. For example, if the
username you selected is 'myname', your new email
address is 'myname@usaliberty.net.
Your email account has been setup automatically in your default mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora etc...)
HOME PAGE
USA Liberty is set up as your default home page. You may wish to change this
to Yahoo, CNN, or other 'portal' home pages. To
change your default home page, change the home page setting in your browser
(e.g. Explorer, Netscape).
